As a Senior Product Manager on Skyscanner's App team, I'm proud to own and help shape several initiatives that define how millions of travellers around the world search for, discover and book their next trip.
I joined Skyscanner in early 2024 to lead the 0-1 development of Drops, our flagship deals feature which surfaces flights that have dropped in price by 20% or more. Drops continuously scans millions of flights, tracking prices over a rolling seven-day window and only surfacing the routes travellers are most likely to want, so every deal shown is both significant and desirable. As an app-exclusive feature, Drops is also a key driver of app engagement and loyalty, scaling to millions of monthly users since launch.
Since then, I've picked up considerably more ownership, including leading a radical transformation of the app's homescreen towards a more personalised and dynamic experience. My team and I have delivered key modules including Recent Searches and Drops on Homescreen, with a number of further modules currently in experimentation and development. Together, these changes have driven exceptional improvements to engagement and revenue, and have fundamentally shifted the Skyscanner app experience towards one that's more personalised – reflecting and rewarding travellers' use of our product. As this project continues, we're shifting towards ever more personalised orchestration of the homescreen, tailoring the experience more dynamically to each individual traveller. Drops and Personalised Homescreen remain my two biggest projects today.
Alongside this, I own Identity within the app, spanning our identity platform; the onboarding and login experience; and the profile section of the app. We're currently optimising our onboarding and login flow to better communicate the benefits of Skyscanner to new users, particularly in a number of key markets, which we expect will improve both activation and login rate. We've also recently completed a major rewrite of our identity and consent platform, which I led on the app side – migrating to a third-party solution, improving performance, and ensuring compliance across the many markets Skyscanner operates in, with much less bespoke work required going forward.
Lastly, I own Explore in the app, which helps travellers find inspiration for their next trip. It's one of our most popular features, helping travellers browse destinations across a range of dates and prices, and this area too is undergoing a number of changes on web that will soon be reflected in the app too.
Across all of this, I've been fortunate to work with a brilliant team, and the breadth of my ownership – each of Skyscanner's three App PMs owns a very large slice of the end-to-end product – has created a real convergence effect that I've been able to capitalise on. I've brought Drops and Explore onto the homescreen to surface personalised deals and recommendations; used our onboarding flow to improve login rates, drawing on my ownership of the identity platform; and introduced homescreen personalisation to help solve new user activation. It's a unique position to be in, and one I've really valued being able to lean into.
This breadth has pushed me to develop across every part of the product lifecycle, from roadmap and prioritisation through to experimentation, stakeholder management and platform strategy. I'm constantly looking to improve how I work, and I continue to work closely with my team, and the other App PMs, to make sure the Skyscanner app keeps getting better for travellers.
